With a height of about 25 meters (82 feet), it may not be the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka, but it is certainly one of the most beautiful.

Location and How to Get There

The drive covers around 13 kilometers and takes about 40 minutes.

Cars cannot proceed much further from the parking area. From here, the road splits into two paths—one leading to Upper Gartmore Falls and the other to the Lower Gartmore Falls viewpoint.

Tuk-tuks are available at the parking area, and a driver will take you to both locations and wait while you have a swim and enjoy the beautiful locations.The entire round trip costs about 3500 LKR, and each tuk-tuk can fit three adults. The round trip takes a few hours, giving you plenty of time to explore both spots at your leisure.

The road is very rugged, with some sections paved with stones, winding through picturesque tea plantations and narrow paths that pass through small settlements. Along the way, you'll see locals going about their daily lives as you pass right by their houses.

For Upper Gartmore Falls, the tuk-tuk will drop you at a point where you'll need to hike a few hundred meters to reach the waterfall and its beautiful infinity pool.

Best Time to Visit Gartmore Falls

The best time to visit Gartmore Falls depends on what kind of experience you're looking for. The weather is more predictable during the dry season, from December to April.
