Historical Significance

Ravana Falls has a deep connection with the ancient Indian epic, the Ramayana. According to the epic, King Ravana of Sri Lanka kidnapped Princess Sita, wife of Lord Rama, and brought her to his kingdom. It is believed that Sita was hidden in a cave near Ravana Falls during her captivity.

The waterfall was named after King Ravana as a tribute to his power and the significant role he played in the Ramayana.
